Battery Recycling

We've written elsewhere about the long battery life of The PIPE. In the PIPE I, our previous model, battery life was typically two to three years. In the PIPE II, our current model, battery life is typically fifteen years or more.

But all batteries must be replaced eventually. What happens to the PIPE's lithium batteries when they are replaced?

In the United States, we use a company in Michigan, Battery Solutions, who recycles our batteries. They have a simple program where they send us a container, and when it's filled up with lithium batteries, we send it back for recycling.

In Belgium, our European office recycles batteries through Bebat, a nonprofit organization founded in cooperation with the federal and regional governments.
