What does your company do?
Bahra Advanced Cable, with headquarters in the industrial city of Bahra, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,
manufactures wiring and cabling products.
Can you describe the physical layout of your facilities?
Our factory is a sprawling facility with over 300,000 square meters of prime manufacturing and land
space. We employ 450 people.
What is your title?
I am IT Infrastructure Manager and I’ve been with this company since 2007.
What are your daily responsibilities?
I’m in charge of our IT staff and IT issues, as well as managing operational and financial issues related
to IT. One of my jobs is to ensure connectivity between our remote sites, since in IT we centrally manage
all distributed points and gather the checkpoint button readings on a daily basis to create a guard
performance report, which is then analyzed by upper management.
How many officers do you have?
We have 19 security officers to cover all organization areas. They perform three shifts per day, and
each shift is 8 hours. Our factory operates 24 hours a day and we have our guards patrolling both our
production areas as well as office areas.
How many rounds do they do?
We have 25 buttons located within the cable factory at the entrance, on gates, in the production area,
offices, parking facilities and the warehouse. In the factory, buttons are located inside the production
area where there are cable rolls, raw materials and other things related to production, along with the
finished goods location. We have a round every hour of the day that hits all 25 points each time.
How long have you been using Guard1 Plus?
I first heard about it from our company’s CEO who, I believe, had received an email on the product,
got interested, and forwarded it to me. We began using the system in 2009.
How do you like it?
It is a great asset for our organization and is very helpful in managing our security officers. With
our guards patrolling all day, every day, Guard1 Plus helps us to secure our working environment and
all our valuable assets. It tells us exactly where a guard was at a given time, which guards are performing
well and which need our attention.
What did you have before our system?
Believe it or not, we were not using any system to monitor our security officers’ activities. In order
to check whether a guard was doing a patrol properly, we would simply drop in unannounced at a particular
location to see if the officer was where he was supposed to be. One time, I found a guard sleeping on
duty and another time, I found that the guard wasn’t there at all.
How did guards react to the system when it was first installed?
Guards who were not performing well didn’t like it but our best guards were extremely happy because
they felt that Guard1 Plus proved they were working really hard.
How many PIPEs do you own?
We own 15 PIPEs. In the two years that our guards have been using them, they have sometimes been very
rough with them and they are still in good condition.
How do you use the reports?
We print officer reports to review attendance of our security officers, and to make sure officers are
patrolling all specified locations.
What problems has Guard1 Plus solved for you?
It better allows our security manager to monitor and validate that patrols are being completed as scheduled.
Have you had any problems with the system?
We’ve never had any issues with the Guard1 Plus system, and during the time that we upgraded to a newer
version, we received excellent technical support.
What is your favorite thing about Guard1 Plus?
Guard1 Plus is a user-friendly system, easy to implement and manage. Looking back, I can say that I
made a correct decision when I decided to go with Guard1 Plus. And the proof came when I got instructions
from upper management to use Guard1 Plus in all of our company’s warehouses, including those of our
sister companies. The data from these remote sites is downloaded by IP Downloader, which doesn’t even
require a PC at those locations.
