35602: Key is not unique in collection

When opening Guard1 Plus you receive the following error:





If Guard1 Plus 2.8x:

  1. Right-click the Guard1 Plus shortcut on the Desktop.
  2. Select Properties.
  3. Click the Shortcut tab.
  4. Review the path in the Target field:
    1. If it is C:\TimeKeeping Systems\Guard1 Plus\Guard1Plus.exe, continue to section Remove the Registry keys for your hardware.  Your installation is correct.
    2. If it is anything other than C:\TimeKeeping Systems\Guard1 Plus\Guard1Plus.exe (such as D:\TimeKeeping Systems...), the InstallShield installer incorrectly chose your removable drive as the installation path.  To resolve:
      1. Uninstall Guard1 Plus.
      2. Restart the PC.
      3. Disconnect all removable hard drives.
      4. Reinstall Guard1 Plus.
      5. Restart the PC. Repeat Steps 1-4 above to confirm that the installation was placed in C:\TimeKeeping Systems. If it is, your system is now correct - you can reconnect your removable drive(s).  If the path is still incorrect, contact Technical Support.



Remove the Registry keys for your hardware

You must be an Administrator to edit the Windows Registry. If you do not have Administrator privileges, or are not familiar with the terms and methods described in the procedure below, please contact your IT Department for assistance.


  1. Close all open programs.
  2. Click Start > Run., or click in the Search Box if Windows Vista or 7.
  3. Type regedit, then click OK. This will open Registry Editor.
  4. On the left side of the screen, navigate to the folder HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\TimeKeeping Systems Inc\Guard1 Plus(32-bit) or HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Wow6432Node\Software\TimeKeeping Systems Inc\Guard1 Plus(64-bit) .
  5. Under Guard1 Plus, right-click on the folder Downloaders and select Delete.
  6. Click Yes to confirm the deletion.
  7. Under Guard1 Plus, right-click on the folder Readers and select Delete.
  8. Click Yes to confirm the deletion.
  9. Close Registry Editor.
  10. Open Guard1 Plus.


If the error recurs:

  1. Click OK at the error message. You may have to do this multiple times.
  2. Click the Facilities tab.
  3. Expand the Unassociated Locations folder.
  4. Double-click the first Button in the Unassociated Locations folder.  This will open the Button Properties tab in the right window pane.
  5. If the Member of: section on the Properties tab shows the name of a Client, Facility or Group:
    1. On the Facilities Tab, right-click the Button and select Remove From NAME (where NAME is the name of the Client, Facility or Group shown in the Button Properties Member of: section).
    2. Click Yes to confirm.
    3. Repeat Steps 4 and 5 for all affected Buttons in the Unassociated Locations folder.
  6. Close and reopen Guard1 Plus.
  7. Click the Facilities tab.
  8. Re-associate the Unassociated Location Buttons by right-clicking the target Client, Facility or Group and selecting Add Location.
