Important: FIPS may be required for your organization.  Check with your network administrator before making changes to FIPS settings. If it is not allowed to disable FIPS, you will need to install your Guard1 product on a PC that is not required to have FIPS enabled.

Disable the FIPS compliant algorithms setting via one of the following methods:

  1. Via Local Security Policy Editor
    1. Press Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog.
    2. Enter secpol.msc and press Enter. This will open the Local Security Policy Editor.
    3. In the left pane, open Security Settings, then Local Policies.
    4. Click on Security Options.
    5. In the right pane, double-click the entry named System cryptography: Use FIPS compliant algorithms for encryption, hashing and signing.
    6. Change the value to Disabled. (If Disabled is already selected, see method 2 below).
    7. Click OK.
    8. Close the Local Security Policy Editor.
    9. Restart the PC.
