Customers who migrate to Guard1 Plus SE from standalone Guard1 Plus 2.x or 3.x may have one or more 2.x/3.x Archive files. Because the Guard1 Plus SE G1ConversionWizard can only convert one standalone database (the master database) for use with Guard1 Plus SE, the standalone Archive files cannot be imported by the customer. Customers who wish to use their standalone Archives with Guard1 Plus SE must send them to our Professional Services Team for conversion (fees and restrictions apply).

This procedure describes how to add your converted Guard1 Plus 2.x or 3.x Archive databases to Guard1 Plus SE after you receive them from Professional Services.

  1. Use SQL Enterprise Manager/Management Studio to create empty database(s) where the Archive database(s) will be restored.
  2. Use SQL Enterprise Manager/Management Studio to restore each converted Archive database to its appropriate new database.
  3. Remove the old SQL User (usually 'Guard') from each restored Archive database.
  4. Add the SQL User (usually 'Guard') to each restored Archive database and assign this user the db_Owner database role.
  5. On a PC where the Guard1 Plus SE Local Client is installed, go to the command prompt and navigate to the Guard1 Plus SE Server share. NOTE: if you are not working on the same PC where the shared folder resides, you will have to map the folder to a local drive, then navigate to that drive at the command prompt.
  6. For each restored Archive, type G1Cfg 200;Supervisor User;Supervisor Password;Data Source Name;4;SQL Server;Database;SQL Server Login;SQL Server Password then press Enter.
  7. Click Yes, then OK.
  8. Type G1Cfg 0 then press Enter. In the Current Configuration window, under Data Sources And Connection Parameters, verify that all Archive databases are listed. Repeat Step 6 for all Archives that are not listed.
  9. For each Data Source listed in Step 8, type G1Cfg 401;Supervisor User;Supervisor Password;Data Source Name then press Enter.
  10. Click Yes, then OK.
  11. After completing Step 9 for all listed Data Sources, close all configuration windows and launch the Guard1 Plus SE Client.
  12. Click File > Open Archive and verify the following:
