If the password for the SQL Login used by Guard1 Plus SE is changed, Guard1 Plus SE will not function (see There was an error opening the configuration database). The SQL Login password can change for the following reasons:

Use the procedure below if you wish to change the SQL Login password, or if the password was changed inadvertently.

  1. In Enterprise Manager/Management Studio, change the password for the SQL Login associated with Guard1 Plus SE (usually 'Guard').
  2. Note the names of your current Application, Configuration, and Archive databases in Enterprise Manager/Management Studio.
  3. On a PC where the Guard1 Plus SE Local Client is installed, go to the command prompt and navigate to the Guard1 Plus SE Server share. NOTE: if you are not working on the same PC where the shared folder resides, you will have to map the folder to a local drive, then navigate to that drive at the command prompt.
  4. Associate the new SQL Login credentials by typing G1Cfg 100;SQL Server;Database;SQL Server Login;SQL Server Password, then pressing Enter.
  5. Click Yes, then OK.
  6. Type G1Cfg 0 then press Enter. This will display the Current Configuration window which lists your current Data Sources. Leave this window open or print a screenshot of it for reference.
  7. For each Data Source listed in the Current Configuration, type G1Cfg 201;Supervisor User;Supervisor Password;Data Source Name then press Enter.
  8. Perform Step 6 again and verify there are no more listed Data Sources in Current Configuration. If there are, repeat Step 7 for each listed Data Source.
  9. For each Data Source shown in Step 6, type G1Cfg 200;Supervisor User;Supervisor Password;Data Source Name;Data Source Type;SQL Server;Database;SQL Server Login;SQL Server Password then press Enter.
  10. Click Yes, then OK.
  11. Type G1Cfg 0 then press Enter. In the Current Configuration window, under Data Sources And Connection Parameters, verify that the name and type of each data source matches the original configuration in Step 6.
  12. For each Data Source listed in Step 11, type G1Cfg 401;Supervisor User;Supervisor Password;Data Source Name then press Enter.
  13. Click Yes, then OK.
  14. After completing Step 12 for all listed Data Sources, close all configuration windows and launch the Guard1 Plus SE Client.
