Summary

Rounds Tracker and Rounds Tracker SE are Excel applications.  Both use custom Excel macros.  Because macros are a potential security risk, Excel contains a Macro Security component to control the execution of embedded macros in Excel files. Software publishers (like TimeKeeping Systems) apply digital signatures to their macros to verify their authenticity. Each time you open Rounds Tracker, Excel checks its digital signature to verify that it's valid and current.

The default Excel Macro Security setting is High (Excel 2003 and earlier) or Disable all macros with notification (Excel 2007 and newer).

When you open Rounds Tracker for the first time

If the Rounds Tracker digital signature is valid and current, and with Excel set to the default Macro Security setting, Excel will prompt you with the following message when you open Rounds Tracker for the first time:

Digital Signature Expiration

The Macro signing certificates used in earlier versions of Rounds Tracker expire and must be renewed.  To do this TimeKeeping Systems must release a new version of the application.

The current versions (and all future versions) use a Macro signing certificate that will not expire:

Attempting to open a version of Rounds Tracker with an expired digital signature will result in the following messages if Excel Macro Security is set to High (Excel 2003 and earlier) or Disable all macros with notification or Disable all macros except digitally signed macros (Excel 2007 and newer):

Resolution

If you receive a Macro Security warning when you open Rounds Tracker that does not indicate the digital signature has expired, follow the instructions in the Summary section above for your version of Excel.

If you receive a Macro Security warning when you open Rounds Tracker that indicates the digital signature is expired or revoked as described in the Digital Signature Expiration section above, click here for information on the available options for your version of Rounds Tracker. In the meantime you can use the workaround described for your version of Excel in the Digital Signature Expiration section above.
