Inmate Tracking System
Real time location tracking for inmates and equipment.
Inmates wear wristbands that track their location once per second, providing your agency with inmates' real time locations and a complete movement history. Our system can also track equipment, too.
Why an Inmate Tracking System?
An inmate tracking system tracks inmate movement and presence in real time to help with:
Keep separate alerts
The system will notify staff if inmates that are not supposed to be near each other go into the same zone.
Automated headcounts
The system can tell who is in each zone.
Compliance reporting for rec
The system can monitor when inmates go to rec and for how long they are in that zone, allowing your agency to report on their duration and access to rec for standards compliance.
Full inmate movement history
The system can run reports filtered by inmates, showing an inmate's movement history.
Escape prevention
The system can provide alerts when inmates leave a particular zone and are no longer being tracked.
What is an Inmate Tracking System?
Our Guard1 Inmate Tracking System is a system built to track inmate locations in real-time. It does this through beacon tags that are on the wristbands that inmates wear. These beacon tags emit a signal once per second and are recognized by our beacon tracking receivers placed in the ceiling or high up on the wall. A map on your desktop application then shows real time movement on a map of your facility.
Here are some challenges correctional facilities may face:
-
- Inmate incidents occurring because of keep separates coming in contact with each other
-
- Inmate escapes or entering restricted areas
-
- Timely and accurate headcounts
Here is how Guard1's Inmate Tracking System helps solve them:
-
- Get real-time alerts when keep separates enter in the same zone at your facility
-
- Get real-time alerts when inmates are "out-of-bounds" at your facility
-
- See headcounts in real time
How does an Inmate Tracking System Work?
Our Guard1 Inmate Tracking System works by inmates wearing wristbands that emit a signal once per second. Our beacon tracking receivers recognize this signal and track movement in real time on a map of your facility.
1. Assign beacon tags to individuals and/or equipment.
3. Track movement in real time for people and equipment - anywhere in your facility.
2. Beacon tags send a signal once per second that is captured by Guard1 receivers.
4. Get real time alerts for out-of-bounds people or items. Manage keep-separates for individuals or groups.
Benefits of an Inmate Tracking System
1. Prevent incidents before they occur
2. Know what's happening, when it happens
3. Have a complete log of movement history
4. Make sure equipment and tools stay where they need to

Real time updates
Our beacon tracking tags transmit a signal once per second, so your Guard1 tracking systems know where its always at in real time.
Hands-off
Beacon tracking is continuous and requires no additional work for your officers - the beacon tracking tags automatically transmit their signal.
Continuous tracking
The beacon tracking tags transmit a signal once per second continuously and require no recharging, with a battery life ranging from 2 to 8 years.
Reliable
A reliable system, beacon tracking tags are continuously captured by the receivers located in your facility. No need to worry about manual location scans; it's already done for you.
Does an Inmate Tracking System work with WiFi?
Guard1's inmate tracking system uses proprietary RF technology instead of WiFi. Cabling is run throughout your facility that connects your Guard1 system to receivers that are either wall-mounted or placed inside of the ceiling. Cabling provides the best way to ensure a consistent, reliable power source and connection to receive the signals from the beacon tags or equipment.
Can you track equipment with the Inmate Tracking System?
Yes, Guard1 offers an "Asset Tag" that attaches to equipment and provides a real-time location update once per second.
You can use the Asset Tracking Tag to track equipment, tools, and other objects.
Attach it to any piece of equipment and get real-time location updates once per second, and set up configurable alerts if equipment leaves its assigned zone.
Held to equipment by chains, zip ties, or other adhesives, the asset tracking tag can be used on equipment like (but not limited to):
- Kitchen utensils like knives
- Key sets
- Tools
- Hospital Crash Carts
What is the difference between an inmate tracking system and mobile inmate tracking system?
There is no set definition of either system, but when we explain this to customers, we generally say:
Inmate Tracking System
Inmate Tracking System - a system that uses "beacon" tags to track people and assets in real time.
An inmate tracking system tracks inmate movement and presence in real time to help with:
-
- Keep separate alerts
- Automated headcounts
- Compliance reporting for rec
- Full inmate movement history
- Escape prevention
It works by inmates wearing wristbands that emit a signal once per second. Our beacon tracking receivers recognize this signal and track movement in real time on a map of your facility.
Mobile Inmate Tracking System
Mobile Inmate Tracking System - A system that uses mobile devices to scan RFID and NFC tags to verify electronic proof of presence.
Mobile devices can scan RFID tags that are mounted on walls or equipment, or they can scan NFC tags that are in wristbands or ID cards to verify an activity completed for a particular inmate. This requires an action (scanning the tag) with a handheld mobile device (SuperMAX) to verify proof of presence.
Additionally, the mobile devices have other features such as photo and video evidence, eSignatures, and more.
Once these checks are completed, they are submitted to the desktop system over WiFi.
